William A. McBroom, Jr., 84, a native of Urania, LA and resident of Raceland passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church from 11:00 a.m. until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 61 years, Faye E. McBroom; sons, Todd McBroom, Jason McBroom and wife Heather; daughters, Donna McBroom Theriot and husband Jeffery, Rhonda McBroom Lombas, Christine McBroom Carrier and husband Randy, Ann McBroom Ledet and husband Jack; brothers, McDuffy McBroom, Ford McBroom; sister, Sarah McBroom Foxworth; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, William A. McBroom, Sr.; mother, Virgie Elliott McBroom; daughter, Debra Anne McBroom; brother, Marvin McBroom; sister, Betty McBroom Falgout.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a retired State Trooper. He was a, Air Force Veteran who served as a body guard for 4 star General Norris Lorstead.
His CB handle was "Toymaker". He was an avid carpenter and was well known for his carpentry skills.
