Victorin J. “Vic” Matherne, Jr., 78, a native and resident of Raceland passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022.
Visitation will be held at St. Hilary of Poitier Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 3rd from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:)) a.m. with a private burial to follow in Holy Savior Cemetery.
Vic is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ellen H. Matherne; sons, Steve Matherne and Beau (Mia) Matherne; daughters, Leigh (Wesley) Thibodaux and Leslie (Mike) Guttke; grandchildren, Tate (Brittany) Thibodaux, Megan (Alex Ernestine) Thibodaux, Bryce Matherne and Brynn Matherne; great-grandchildren, Tatum Thibodaux, Weston Yager and Charlotte Thibodaux.
Vic was preceded in death by his parents, Victorin “Beau”, Sr. and Blanche Matherne; sister, Marie Jeanne (Clarence) Gautreaux.
Vic was a proud member of the Central Lafourche Community. He spent countless hours serving and befriending many. He was an avid hunter and LSU sports fanatic. He will be mostly remembered as a dedicated and loving family man. His strong spirit and dedication will never be forgotten.
