Sylvia Ida Richè Naquin, 88, a native and resident of Lafourche Parish, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Robichaux and Reyne Oubre (Ivy); brothers, Claude Richè Jr. (Louise), Timothy Richè (Liz), James Richè (Jodie); Sister-in-law, Paula Richè; grandchildren, Jeremy Robichaux (Julie), Courtney Naquin Baniewicz (John), Jacqueline Robichaux (Dax); great-grandchildren, Conrad Robichaux, Bennett Baniewics, and Frankie Baniewics; Godchildren, Dwayne Bourgeois and Justin Richè; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends, especially Phillip Gouaux.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Bernice Richè; sons, Brian Naquin and Byron Naquin; son-in-law Jaime Robichaux Sr.; grandson, Jaime Robichaux Jr.; brother, Wayne Richè.
Sylvia had a beautiful heart that welcomed everyone and a smile that made people feel at home. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, bowling, and traveling. Sylvia’s passion and love of life was raising her cattle for more than 50 years. Raising cattle wasn’t just work to her—it was a way of life, rooted in patience, care, and showing respect for the cattle industry and its farm land. She was an all-around loving person to anyone who encountered her. She was an active parishioner of Holy Savior Church in Lockport, La and participated in the choir there. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Thibodaux, La from 9:00AM to 11:00AM with a mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00AM with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux, La.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Sylvia’s patient and loving sitters who provided 24-hour care for the last year and a half- Tori, Sandra, Freda, Delika, Debora, and Cynthia; and Lafourche Nursing Home/ Legacy and their outstanding and loving nurses and staff.
