Philip Earl Gilligan, 77, native of Davenport, Iowa and resident of Larose, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, November 24th, 2025.

Philip is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Beth Gilligan; his son, Maurice (Kasey) Scardino; his daughter, Jessie (Jason) Bell; his grandchildren, Mason, Jason Jr., Jake, Abagail, Danny, and Zack; his brothers, Mark (Mary Ann) Gilligan, and Paul Gilligan; many nieces and nephews; and his son, Damion Gilligan.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rita Gilligan; and his grandson, Maurice J. Scardino.

Philip loved fishing, singing, and working with his fellow veterans. He was a proud member of the Louisiana Hall of Fame, West Bank Hall of Fame, a broadcaster for KMRC KLRZ, Jerusalem Shrine Masonic Lodge Walter Irving Lanier #307, Lafourche Fire Dist. #3, DAV Bayou #9 and American Legion Post #83. He was also a graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. He also ran his own business, PEGILLIGN Marine Surveyors for many years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the American Legion in Lockport, LA, at 921 Veteran Street, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
