John Joseph Bourgeois, Sr.

John J. Bourgeois, Sr., a native of Mathews, La. and a resident of Raceland, La. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 1st Baptist Church on Canal Blvd. Thibodaux, La, from 9:00am until service time. A Celebration of life will be celebrated at 11:00am at church with burial to follow at St. Hilary’s Cemetery in Raceland, La.
John is survived by his wife of 63 years Bonnie Hebert Bourgeois; children, John J. Bourgeois, Jr, Eula B. (Dean) Verret, and Tina B. (Jody) Detillier; grandchildren, Jody, II (Jessica) Detillier, Deanna (Jonathan) Portier, Jena (Clark) Bergeron, , Bryce Fanguy, Rebekah Bourgeois, and Benjamin (Amber) Fanguy; great-grandchildren, Joel Bergeron, Darbi Bergeron and Janie Detillier; sister, Gloria Hebert.
John was preceded in death by his parents Roy Bourgeois and Edwina Callahan Bourgeois Cancienne; daughter, Chantelle Therese Bourgeois; brothers, Louis and Alvin Bourgeois; sisters, Rosemary B. Breaux and Delores B. Hebert.
John was a United States Army Veteran and proudly served our Country.
John retired from Bollinger Shipyard after working 44 years.
John had one speed wide open.
John was definitely the example of a true servant of the Lord.
