Jerome Stephen Savoie, born April 23, 1951, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the age of 74.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Church on Saturday February 14th, 2026 from 9am until 11am when a Christian mass will be celebrated with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A local mass will be scheduled in Acadiana at a later date for all who are unable to attend the funeral and would like to celebrate his life.
Jerome is survived by his daughters Jeanné Savoie and Tarva Blum (Walter); grandchildren, Carson Guidry, Christian Jackson, Drew Jackson, and Bristol Jackson; Brother Gilbert Savoie; Sister Iris Cheramie (Chad) and his partner of 45 years, Charlene Savoie.
He is preceded in death by his parents Layman and Margie Savoie and younger brother, Marty Savoie.
A native of Grand Isle, Jerome lived most of his life in Youngsville, LA and retired in Loreauville. He worked hard and loved his family and friends harder. In the late 70’s, after an inspiring time at Nicholl’s State, he was hired on by Nolty Theriot Tugs and was proud to retire 40+ years later as Chief Engineer of Edison Chouest's largest supply boat.
While offshore he enjoyed not only his job but making fishing lures for deep sea fishing at the rigs. As an artist he painted, carved wooden ducks, and created stories for his family equipped with accessories. His creativity was an extension of his joyful life and generous spirit. In his spare time he enjoyed crawfish and crab boils and pool parties with his family. When living out his retirement he spent most days in the kitchen cooking his favorite dish "swamp boogie chow" using the vegetables from his own garden. He enjoyed his heritage by speaking Cajun French with the people of his community. He attended mass regularly at the church Father LaRoche built and prayed for the peace that he no doubt has now received. Jerome will be remembered not only for what he did, but for how he made people feel: welcomed, amused, nourished, and deeply loved.
In lieu of flowers the family asks to pray a rosary and masses to be said in his name.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home is honored to serve The Savoie Family.
