Absent from this Earth, present with the Lord, and forever in our hearts, we celebrate the life of Carroll J. Guidry. Our beloved “Guidry”, “Daddy”, “GeeGee”, and to so many, “Fred”. Lifelong resident of Bayou Lafourche and fiercely proud of his Cajun heritage, he paddled his pirogue up the heavenly bayou to fish with his angels on September 6, 2025.
Fittingly, he found the love of his life of 56 years, Nelcie, right next door. Together they lovingly raised four children, Angela, Rachel (Matt Zeringue), Mark, and Marcie (Ty Brown). He was over the moon to welcome his grandchildren, Jarrett (Michelle), Ally, William, Isabelle, Draevin, Andrew and Bentley. Full of joy, the arrival of Oliver made him a great grandfather. Golden in his years, he spent much of his time with his Golden (retriever) Girl, Bella. The son of dairy farmers and the apprentice of a carpenter, he learned very early the valued lessons of hardship and quiet resilience, the rewards of hard work, and the many blessings of neighborly love. Always willing to lend a hand, he paid it forward to his family, friends and community. His moral compass guided him to lead his life through the strength of his faith. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met and that’s how he should be remembered….always cracking a joke and his whole face lighting up when he smiled.
As a family, we are grateful for all who have loved and cared for him along the way. Please join us in celebrating his life at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 9 am until service time. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please enjoy some beignets and coffee, chocolate, or a burger and fries, take in a ball game and listen to some Cajun music while remembering him fondly.
